Amrinder govt gave only 35,000 jobs after promising 55 lakh jobs to youth: YAD

YAD to teach Congress a lesson for betraying them: Parambans Singh Romana

Mansa, April 3 : The Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today said the Capt. Amarinder Singh led Congress government had betrayed the youth of the State by only giving 35,000 jobs instead of providing 55 lakh households one job per family as promised during 2017 assembly elections.

Addressing a huge rally here under the ‘Youth Mangda Jawab’ campaign, YAD President Parambans Singh Romana said it was shocking that after assuming power in the State, the Congress government forgot all promises particularly made to youth. He said the Congress party had promised one job per household in its election manifesto but when during the recently held Punjab Assembly session the SAD sought a reply on the number of jobs provided to youth, the government said it had only provided 35000 jobs during the last four years. He said the government was honour bound to create 55 lakh jobs under its ghar ghar rozgar scheme.

The YAD President further said that the youth had not only been betrayed as far as providing jobs was concerned, but had also increased drug addiction in the State. He said cabinet minister Balbir Singh Sidhu was responsible for shielding those who had misappropriated five crore tablets meant for drug deaddiction. He said that during the last four years the sale of drugs had spread in every nook and corner of the state and the youth were the worst sufferers under this policy.

Mr. Romana also said that not only sale of drugs but sale of illicit liquor to youth had also caused tremendous loss of lives as more than 126 people lost their lives due to sale of spurious and illicit liquor in Tarn Taran.  He said legislators like Ramanjit Sikki of the Congress party had been accused of being responsible for the hooch deaths by the victim families but no action had been taken against them. He said instead of taking action against those guilty in these cases, the Congress government was presiding over all these illegal activities including sand mining, illegal liquor trade besides others.

The YAD President said that the YAD would not only force the Congress to fulfill promises made to youth and other segments of society but will also team up with the youth to teach it a lesson in coming elections. EOM
